Committee
2009 to 2010 COMMITTEE
| Chairman |
Mark Sherwood |
|
| Diving Officer |
Steve Fulcher |
The DO’s main job is to make sure all club diving activities are carried out safely. It’s also the DO’s job to sign off all qualifications – thus ensuring he’s never without a drink at the bar. Steve was finally press-ganged into taking up the DO's position in 2008. He's been diving for about 13 years & is an Advanced Diver as well as Open Water Instructor & Nitrox Instructor. He developed his passion for diving after a serious blow to the head which left him with delusions of being the Man from Atlantis. Some mornings he's so keen to get on the dive he has been known to quite literally fly out of his bunk - only to be closely followed by it |
| Secretary |
Janet Yates |
It's the secretary's job to look after all the paperwork associated with running the club... somebody has to do it but we have managed to minimised the amount of work involved with the acquisition of a very efficient paper shredder.
|
| Treasurer |
Simon Yates |
The treasurer looks after the club’s finances by squirreling away any money the club has and making sure we can’t get hold of it. Simon is the current club treasurer. He’s a BS-AC Advanced Diver & Advanced Instructor. He can’t remember how long he’s been diving though he frequently laments the “good old days” when they used to dive in wooly pullovers & breathed from empty barrels strapped to their backs through a piece of garden hose connected to a bicycle pump!
|
| Training Officer |
Andy Davis |
Andy is a BS-AC Dive Leader as well as an Open Water Instructor and is the clubs current Training Officer, organising all the diver training and associated courses, theory lessons & innumerable visits to Stoney Cove - which he insists must take place in the middle of winter, but only when the ice is less than 1/8" thick. Andy has been diving for about 9 years although most of his equipment has been diving for much longer; his dry-suit has been carbon dated and is now only on temporary loan to him from the Nautical Archaeological Society. The rest of his kit has been reported to the Receiver of Wreck who is currently investigating it's origins. |
| Boat Officer |
Darren Ashford |
Darren is our boat fixer - when bits fall off the boat (they're never knocked off) he'll stick them back on, otherwise he'll stuff them in the corner of the cupboard where he's almost accumulated enough bits to build another boat. We keep him locked up in the boat shed where he seems to be quite happy tinkering away, but in keeping with human rights, we do let him out for the occasional dive now & again. Darren's been diving a lot longer than the rest of us can remember and none of us are really quite sure where he came from. But his inventiveness is legendary having apparently graduated from the Blue Peter School of Ingenuity; what he can do with a yogurt pot, coathanger & some sticky back plastic is simply amazing - but that's a different sort of website. |
