Risk Assessment
Every Club activity - social events as well as diving - must be preceded by a risk assessment. While this may seem like an onerous task it is a vital aid to safety and must be done. However, by adhering to the BSAC's training you have received, you will be well on the way to conducting a safe event.
To conduct a risk assessment you need to answer the following:
What hazards are there (what could go wrong)?
Who might be affected by the hazard?
How seriously might they be affected?
What controls can I put in place to stop the hazard happening?
What will we do if the hazard does cause a problem anyway?
So it really is about applying common sense - and writing it down because you can be sure that if it all goes wrong one of the first things you will be asked for is your Risk Assessment.
