Red Sea 2007
In order to uphold with tradition at the end of last year, 14 members waved goodbye to the glories of UK diving & tore themselves away to the Red Sea for a weeks live-aboard on MV Blue Seas.
Booked on the Northern wrecks itinerary we were lucky to just catch the last dives on the Thistlegorm before it closed for preservation work. Then it was on to the Dunraven, Ras Mohamed, Rosalie Moller, all the wrecks of Abu Nuhas & of course the trusty, rusty barge. We finished the week off on the Egyptian minesweeper (unfortunately, 80 other divers had the same idea at the time).
In the spirit of glasnost, the last night was spent (read experienced) in a hotel full of Russians, queuing for the bread rolls & fighting for every drop of vodka we could get. Overall an excellent weeks diving - thanks go to Andy Davis for organising it all - only slightly marred by the dose of Mohamed’s revenge that everyone contracted on board. We were all ready to lynch the chef when we got back to Hurghada but he’d already jumped ship (hopefully to go & cook for the Russians).
